URL: https://github.com/gradion-ai/freeact

Author: cstub

Description: Hello! We just released freeact (https://github.com/gradion-ai/freeact), a lightweight agent library that empowers language models to act as autonomous agents through executable code actions.

By enabling agents to express their actions directly in code rather than through constrained formats like JSON, freeact provides a flexible and powerful approach to solving complex, open-ended problems that require dynamic solution paths.

* Supports dynamic installation and utilization of Python packages at runtime

* Agents learn from feedback and store successful code actions as reusable skills in long-term memory

* Skills can be interactively developed and refined in collaboration with freeact agents

* Agents compose skills and any other Python modules to build increasingly sophisticated capabilities

* Code actions are executed in ipybox (https://github.com/gradion-ai/ipybox), a secure Docker + IPython sandbox that runs locally or remotely

Show HN: AIEasyPic – Generate AI Images. Simple and Easy - Project Screenshot

URL: https://aieasypic.com/

Author: mesmertech

Description: Hey everyone,

Finally "launching" my sideproject on HN, its something I've been working on for the last year. Its currently at ~$5k rev. per month

Yes I know it seems like a generic AI image generator, but its taken quite a bit of work from the initial POC of running this on 4x 4070ti super GPUs in my basement to now running a multitude of services, some in runpod servers, some serverless, some in falAI, and some still in my basement servers.

Instead of it being just some marketing blurb that no one gets much value out of, I'd love to answer any questions you might have regarding AI image generations, workflows if you're working on something in a similar niche or how you can get started with SEO as an indiehacker and things to avoid. After doing this for a year, I'd consider myself a bit of an expert in this area.

Show HN: Remix – an AI tool to remix movie clips - Project Screenshot

URL: https://www.eggnog.ai/remix

Author: millgrove

Description: We keep seeing remixed movie clips and podcasts that make us laugh, but it's hard to make a good one -- you need to find a clip that will work within the constraints of AI, use high-quality voices, make adjustments to lip-sync properly, etc. There is some potential for misuse which is why we haven't yet let just anyone create templates.

We're excited to show it to the HN community!

If you just want to watch a remixed clip, we recommend this one: https://www.eggnog.ai/mix/rXG3Zy1Tu9WgG0h2Uk9e But you can explore the templates and make something with the link in the post

11. Show HN: ReelWorld – Generate professional marketing videos using AI presenters

Show HN: ReelWorld – Generate professional marketing videos using AI presenters - Project Screenshot

URL: https://reelworld.io

Author: bpearsonkicks

Description: I built ReelWorld (https://reelworld.io) because traditional video marketing was too expensive and time-consuming for most businesses. Instead of spending thousands on video production or hours filming yourself, you can now generate professional videos using AI presenters in minutes.

The platform lets you choose from pre-made presenters, input your script, and get back a polished video. We focused heavily on making the AI presenters look and sound natural, avoiding the uncanny valley effect that plagues most AI video tools.

Would love feedback from the HN community, especially on:

  • Use cases you'd want to see
  • Technical challenges you're curious about
  • Features that would make this more useful

Happy to answer any questions about the implementation.

Author: pranshuchittora

Description: Hey HN! Excited to share my new App.

I built hitt.ai to solve the common gym challenges we all face: planning effective workouts, tracking progress, and knowing when to adjust our routines.

What makes hitt.ai different? It's built with AI-first capabilities at its core. Think of it as having a personal trainer in your pocket who creates workout plans, reviews your performance, and discusses anything fitness-related – just like a human trainer would. The best part? It's 50x cheaper than a human personal trainer and available 24/7 (because let's face it, AIs don't need protein shakes or rest days ).

Key features:

- AI-powered workout planning that adapts to your goals and progress

14. Show HN: Writing on LinkedIn is cringe so I fine-tuned an AI model

Show HN: Writing on LinkedIn is cringe so I fine-tuned an AI model - Project Screenshot

URL: https://ideafloww.vercel.app/

Author: rebalh

Description: Last year in feb 2024 when my father asked me to make a LinkedIn account as I started my first ever "serious" business as a 17 year old.

Few months down the road I start to see people here can be reached out to ask for work.

Then I ended up doing a bunch of failed outreach.

But creating content on it was really cringe since people there use more of buzzword than there are actual words in English.

I had to find a way to solve this for me so I can show my personality while not spending 1000s of hours writing crappy posts.

Then I came across an AI tool that charged $59 a month. I freaked out seeing how crappy its posts were.

Then I took it into my hand and fine-tuned an AI model on super viral LinkedIn posts from big creators.

Now I have 1,000 followers on LinkedIn and I haven't written 99% (1% for memes) of what I post online.

I couldn't gatekeep it so here it is for free. I need some additional users for testimonials and feedback for iteration.

I hope the hacker news community can help.

Came here from Marc Lou's video.

15. Show HN: Predicting Energy Community Eligibility

Show HN: Predicting Energy Community Eligibility - Project Screenshot

URL: https://github.com/benjamin-mathias-clark/energy_communities

Author: benjaminclark

Description: Since the publication of www.offgridai.us last month, I’ve been looking into the financials of clean energy projects. In the US, tax credits play a key role in bringing down the breakeven cost and making more projects viable. So maximizing tax credit eligibility matters. The energy community bonus tax credit depends on where the project is located, but the list of eligible locations changes every year.

I thought it would be useful to have a tool which figures out the eligible locations before publication of the IRS official list.

Show HN: My Literate System Configuration - Project Screenshot

URL: https://github.com/gamedolphin/system

Author: sandeep-nambiar

Description: This is version 3 of my tinkering with an immutable configuration for my computers. This time around I used emacs' org + nixos to settle on this. The README is the single source of truth for my computer. It is then "tangled" into nix source files, which can then be used by nixos to build my system. This allows me to keep a living document as my system configuration, especially reminding me (hopefully) of certain decisions.

17. Show HN: iffy.app – How (much) to care about politics

Show HN: iffy.app – How (much) to care about politics - Project Screenshot

URL: https://iffy.app

Author: zachwalton

Description: I built https://iffy.app over the holidays to help navigate (US-centric) political discussions with family.

The key feature is telling you how many hours to spend on a given political topic in a calendar year, based on statistical relevance, potential policy solutions, equity considerations* (see below), and optionally personal relevance.

For each of those categories, a score 0-10 is generated based on how relevant the topic is to the category. Each category will show a description for how the weight was calculated, and 5 relevant facts are linked with references from Google search APIs to get started diving into the topic. You can also ask AI follow up questions about the analysis if something’s not clear.

The weights and textual analysis are generated with OpenAI’s GPT 4o model, but the hours calculation uses a deterministic function based on input weights. There are some other strategies used to make output consistent for a given input, but I don’t want to get into that too much here; see https://iffy.app/#methodology for details, intrinsic biases, and possibilities for improvement!

I’ve already found this useful as a structured approach to political topics ranging from conspiracy theories—weighed low for a left-leaning person like me without much personal relevance—to universal healthcare, which I should allocate a lot of research time for.

Hope this is useful or at least interesting! And that it doesn’t go down (I have hard caps on scale/OpenAI costs/Google API costs for now).

*Equity calculations are there to balance out topics that would otherwise be weighed lower due to limited statistical or policy relevance. However, the equity score is weighed lower for right-leaning users, neutrally for centrists, and high for leftists.

18. Show HN: Dotfile Locker

Show HN: Dotfile Locker - Project Screenshot

URL: https://github.com/carlosonunez/dotfile-locker

Author: nunez

Description: I've been tracking my dotfiles with Git for many years now. They've helped me simplify Git, keep track of cloud provider logins, customize my PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND before OhMyZsh was cool, and more.

However, there are some dotfiles and configs that I've created at employers, clients and customers that I also want to track but feel uncomfortable doing so without them being encrypted.

I realized today while writing a script to encrypt/decrypt an archive of dotfiles and symlink them to $HOME that I've written this before and was repeating myself. So I figured that if I'm going to repeat myself one more time, I might as well open-source it!

dotfile-locker is a simple tool that simplifies encrypting and decrypting bundles of dotfiles and other sensitive configs with GPG. This makes it possible to track them with version control and avoid losing environment configurations when your work machine goes up in smoke or if you work out of many difference machines but want a consistent working environment amongst them.

I hope you find this useful! Open an issue, email me or respond to this thread if you have any questions, comments or thoughts!

Show HN: Check If Your Website's Images Have Alt Text in Seconds - Project Screenshot

URL: https://alttextgenerator.co/tools/image-alt-checker

Author: allenz_cheung

Description: I want to share something cool that we’ve been working on. If you’ve ever wondered whether your website images have alt text or if you're struggling to keep track of all your images for accessibility, we’ve got just the thing.

We created an Image Alt Text Checker that quickly scans your website and tells you if any images are missing alt text. It’s super easy to use—just drop your website URL, and the tool does the rest. In seconds, you get a report showing which images need alt text, so you can fix them up in no time.

We built this tool with accessibility in mind. It’s not just about SEO (though it definitely helps with that too!); it’s about making your site more user-friendly for people who rely on screen readers. And let’s face it, who doesn’t want a more inclusive website, right?

It’s 100% free, and honestly, it saves so much time compared to checking each image manually. Anyone else here focusing on website accessibility? Would love to hear your thoughts or any tools you’ve been using to make your site more inclusive!

Show HN: We collected detailed annotations for text-to-image generation - Project Screenshot

URL: https://huggingface.co/datasets/Rapidata/text-2-image-Rich-Human-Feedback

Author: maalber

Description: Recently, the most popular modality text-to-image annotations has been preference data, where annotators usually choose between two images two indicate their favorite. While this does work to fine-tune models, it lacks additional information about what might be wrong with the images. E.g., what part of the image is misaligned relative to the prompt. Google research propose a modality for more information rich annotations (https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.10240). Based on this, we produced this dataset of ~13k images. We collected in total ~1.5 million annotations from 150k annotators using our annotation API. If you are interested you can learn more about the API at https://docs.rapidata.ai/

Let me know if you have any questions about the dataset or Rapidata in general!

23. Show HN: Daily Tokki – An email-only app for learning Korean or English

Show HN: Daily Tokki – An email-only app for learning Korean or English - Project Screenshot

URL: https://dailytokki.com/

Author: Ilasky

Description: Hi HN,

My partner and I built Daily Tokki (https://dailytokki.com?ref=hn-1), an email-only app designed to help people learn Korean or English through personalized daily questions. My partner is a Korean native fluent in English, and we created this app because many language-learning apps cap out after beginner material, leaving learners unsure how to progress further.

Here’s how it works:

1. Each weekday, you get a short, personalized question in your inbox.

2. Reply to the email with your answer.

3. Daily Tokki analyzes your response, provides corrections, and tracks your progress.

The goal is to provide meaningful, consistent practice without the distractions of traditional apps. There’s nothing to install—just check your email, respond, and improve.

We wanted to create a tool that supports learners at all levels, offering tailored questions that grow with your abilities. It’s perfect for busy people looking to build a daily habit or for those who want more advanced material than typical apps provide.

We’d love to hear your feedback about the concept, how it could be improved, or anything else you’d like to share. If you’re learning Korean or English, give it a try—we’d love to know what you think!

Thanks for reading!

Description: I'm working on a GPS track visualizer for quite some time. It shines in hilly and mountaineous terrain (where a 3D view makes more sense), but it also offers quite a lot of Strava-like features (statistics etc.).

You can upload your GPX and FIT files manually, or sync directly with Garmin, Coros and Polar.

See https://cubetrek.com for the live app and check out some examples there. It's free and opens source.

Also, anyone who likes to work with 3D visualizations (especially Babylon.js), let me know if you like to help polish this thing further.

Description: Hey there. I've been working on a dependencies-related product for the last year. A lot of engineering teams that I've seen are building their own internal tooling to check on dependencies.

In short, people either update too frequently or don't update at all.

So, I decided to create a simple linter that checks all the main issues and best practices, comes with sensible defaults, and allows you to adjust it to your needs.

It supports npm/yarn, Go, pip, and Cargo. Any feedback is welcome!

Description: I recently created an Excel add-in that enables iterative calculations when Excel is launched. This solves the recurring problem where Excel forgets to keep iterative calculations enabled when all background processes have been closed.

Acknowledging that there are ways to enable iterative calculations in VBA, this add-in is for users that would rather use the Excel add-in GUI and avoid coding/macro-enabled workbooks altogether.

I'm new to posting on HN, so if you have any feedback on the add-in or this post, I'm keen to hear it - whether good or bad. Thanks everyone!

PlanningPoker.live is an open-source hobby project that I've been working on in the past two years. I've never submitted it here, so I'm happy that I'm able to show it now and get some of your feedback.

I think the coolest and most useful part of my app is its integration with video conferencing apps. This allows remote teams to run their agile planning poker sessions without leaving their video meeting. Of course, you can also use the app from the web.

Since I’m the only developer, the app has a minimal setup: Firebase + Angular. It has about 15k monthly users and some happy customers! :)

Let me know what you think, Gergely

I will add new features to make it more prod ready in the future (cert manager + defining hostname) based on feedbacks.

P.S. If you’re not familiar with Keycloak, it’s an outstanding open-source identity and access management solution for authentication (authn), authorization (authz), and user management.

Show HN: A native Mac UI for text to speech - Project Screenshot

URL: https://hereand.co/mockvox

Author: levinelson

Description: I found myself needing some super simple "good enough" voiceovers recently, and couldn't quickly find a good app for interfacing with OpenAI's text to speech API.

I think there might be some command line tools out there, and you can of course just hit the API directly, but I thought it'd be a fun chance to build a super simple app with a clean UI for less technical folks.

Learned a bit about consumable in-app purchases in the process, which I hadn't done yet.

Anyway, might be useful for some people out there like content marketers or even educators putting curriculum together.

Let me know what you think or if you see any improvements that could be made!

Description: Almost all advice on startups (founding or operating) - & high performance generally - exists in books, articles, podcasts etc.

We know how the best found/ operate yet it's quite hard to actually apply their habits, lessons & techniques day-to-day in our own lives.

So I have put all the best advice in one place in a microlearning-esque tool. This is just the MVP.

I posted this ~1 month ago but since done a big product (& marketing) overhaul, & got my first paying users.

Would be super grateful for any feedback.

Description: I wanted to share something I created to solve a problem that I'm sure many of us face. As a remote developer, I often find myself getting so deeply focused on coding that hours fly by without me moving from my chair. You know that state of flow where you're crushing bugs and shipping features? Yeah, it's great for productivity, but my back was definitely not thanking me.

After dealing with increasing back pain and stiffness, I realized I needed a solution that wouldn't break my focus but would help me remember to move throughout the day. None of the existing apps quite worked for me – they were either too intrusive or too easy to ignore. So, I did what we developers do best: I built my own solution.

I created the iOS App LetsMoveIt, a movement reminder that puts you in control. The key feature is its flexible timer system - you can set custom intervals that match your natural workflow. Whether you prefer short breaks every 10 minutes or longer intervals during deep working sessions, you can customize it to fit your style. I personally found that 20-minute focus blocks work best for me, but everyone's different, and that's exactly why I implemented different intervals.

39. Show HN: My first platform - "Codify" – A different take on GPT's

Show HN: My first platform - "Codify" – A different take on GPT's - Project Screenshot

URL: https://codify.digital

Author: ahardison

Description: Hi HN,

Like many folks, I found myself in a bit of a rut during COVID—feeling isolated, drinking/smoking a lot etc...just to cope, and just not sure where life or my projects were heading. Then, I came across Marc Andreessen’s “It’s Time to Build,”. I wanted to build something that could become a verb, like “Google it” or “FB me.” I landed on “Codify.”

Codify (definition): To arrange according to a plan or system. To arrange information in a manner easy to follow.

What is Codify (.digital)?

tl;dr - a way to use ai to solve problems in real live and implement the plans etc...

tl;dr (o1) - A Workflow Automation Platform Powered by AI

Codify is a simple way to create and/or follow complex multi-party workflows. Over time, I noticed that every project I’d attempted—dietmanager (MNT workflow), phm.ai (health management workflow), a5150.health (mental health workflow)—all boiled down to the same thing: structured processes and steps that needed a smarter, more flexible automation tool. Codify is my attempt at unifying these into one platform with agentic-AI as the engine and SME driving the car via HIL.

Cool Accomplishments

  - agents know when to request a HIL for a decision

  • agents know when an interaction violates and industry standard

Take a look if this sounds interesting to you and LMK what you think.

Main: https://codify.digital

Examples:

  • Note: In a way programs are like GPT's but they engage people, spend money etc...

Note: phm.ai is broken for most because of a DNS issue w/ heroku and multi level subdomains so you can try <co>.phm.ai or los-angeles.ca.us.phm.ai

Note: you can make, buy, sell, follow and publish programs but you cant create white labels (tenants) at the moment.

    40. Show HN: Prompt to App Generator

Show HN: Prompt to App Generator - Project Screenshot

    URL: https://unbiasagents.com

    Author: techslvtx

Description: I built a very simple and easy to use app generator that generates working app prototypes from text prompts. It is deployed immediately so you get a shareable link to your app. If you're applying to YC and want something to prototype your idea with as an early demo, this could work. Built it because I feel there should be one step before MVPs, something early, cheap and shareable. It simulates all frontend and backend functionalities so it's perfect for validating your ideas with early adopters or investors before committing time and money to a full MVP build. It's pay per use, so no need for subscriptions.

    42. Show HN: Flatty – Dead Simple Codebase-to-Text for LLMs

Show HN: Flatty – Dead Simple Codebase-to-Text for LLMs - Project Screenshot

    URL: https://github.com/mattmireles/Flatty

    Author: MediaSquirrel

Description: Transform any GitHub repo or folder on your Mac into a simple text file so that you can upload it to an LLM (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to reason over the whole thing in the context window.

LLMs like ChatGPT and Claude let you upload files, but they limit how many you can upload at once. When you're dealing with large codebases that have tons of files, you can't just upload them directly to an LLM. You end up having to use RAG (retrieval augmented generation) techniques, which in my experience aren't as effective as uploading everything into the full context window - especially when you need to reason about architecture or understand the entire system.

    Flatty is simple to use.

Navigate to your project directory in the Terminal and then type "flatty" - that's it.

The script will output your GitHub repo as a text file (or series of text files in case of large repos) into a folder called "flattened" in your home directory.

I hope you find this tool useful in your own work!
