13. Show HN: NeatShift – A Modern Windows File Organizer with Symbolic Link Support
URL: https://github.com/BytexGrid/NeatShift
Author: BytexGrid
Description: Hi HN,
I've been developing NeatShift, a Windows application designed to help users organize their files and folders seamlessly using symbolic links. The aim is to declutter storage without disrupting file accessibility.
Key Features:
Smart Moving: Relocate files while NeatShift creates symbolic links to maintain system functionality.
Safety Measures: Options for quick backups with NeatSaves and system restore points to ensure data integrity.
Integrated File Explorer: Modern interface with drag-and-drop support, customizable views, and both light and dark themes.
Link Management: Easily view and manage all symbolic links in one place.
I initiated this project to address the challenges of managing large files on limited SSD storage, ensuring that moving files doesn't break application dependencies. NeatShift is open-source (GPL-3.0 license), and I'm actively seeking feedback and contributors to enhance its functionality.
Explore the project here: GitHub Repo https://github.com/BytexGrid/NeatShift
Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions!

16. Show HN: Crunching 1,600+ Readers' 3 Favorite Reads of 2024
URL: #
Author: bwb
Description: Hi all, creator here :)
I launched Shepherd.com on a Show HN in April 2021 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26871660), and it has come a long way. We had over 3 million visitors in 2024 (which feels a bit surreal).
For 2024, I added user accounts so that readers could share their 3 favorite reads of 2024. So far, 1,600+ readers have shared their 3 favorite reads, and you can visually browse the results here:
https://shepherd.com/bboy/2024
Check out their top sci-fi reads: https://shepherd.com/bboy/2024/science-fiction?only-publishe...
Or, their top nonfiction reads: https://shepherd.com/bboy/2024/nonfiction?only-published
You can bounce between most-read and most-read-and-published with the button on top.
What is new this year?
I built a referral setup for book communities to see their group's favorite reads.
For example, here is what Hacker News readers loved the most this year: https://shepherd.com/bboy/2024/hacker-news-community?referre...
You can vote here if you want to share your 3 favorite reads: https://shepherd.com/bboy/my-3-fav-reads/join?referrer_id=32...
My email is ben@shepherd.com if you want to share feedback or ideas for 2025. My goal is to highlight the books we love the most while helping new authors get a chance to meet readers (it is a super tough environment for new authors right now).
Thanks for reading, Ben
P.S. I have a newsletter for readers here where I share what I am building, new features, my fav book lists: https://ilovebooks.shepherd.com/subscribe

19. Show HN: Instant flip/rent potential for any property using real comps and AI
Author: heldllama86
Description: Hey! I am working on a new project where you can enter any US address and see its flip or rental potential.
For multi-family properties it will automatically parse out what units are inside, the rent for each and aggregate for the building.
We also generate a "Flip Score" if you're into that. It's all laid out instantly in a "Rent Potential Report" with a comp breakdowns, GPT renovation advice and downloadable data (CSV). The report is generated via real-time comps within a radius of the home and insights on the property and neighborhood.
This is something I've been wishing existed when scoping out investment properties. I've found it pretty time-consuming to shop around for listings and then have to pull and analyze my own comps to understand what the rent could be – especially with multi-family.
Very open to feedback! Here's an example if you can't think of an address or just wanna see how the report looks: https://usefrontflip.com/report/14f04200-7f7d-4edb-a443-c3ef...

24. Show HN: ChordHive – an alternative front end for ultimate-guitar.com
URL: https://chordhive.com/search
Author: dolphin137
Description: Hi HN,
I've always found Ultimate Guitar frustrating to use, especially when playing in a band. Simple things like making annotations, organizing songs into lists, or transposing chords are just a hassle, let alone the fishy and scamming nature of their site which is full of ads.
That’s why I built ChordHive. It’s a straightforward tool where you can annotate chords and tabs, transpose them, autoscroll, and organize them with lists and tags. It's free and without any ads.
I’m a guitarist in a small band, so this comes from personal experience. But, I’d love to hear what features you’d find useful or how I could improve it. I’ll read every suggestion—your feedback really matters to me.
(PS: I'm currently working on making the project ready for open-source: https://github.com/oskarkraemer/chordhive-web)
Thanks!

I hope this platform helps drive your business growth in '25. Would love feedback.

33. Show HN: Buybase – Ecom for your AI agent
Author: zachrsweedler
Description: Introducing Buybase (https://www.buybase.ai)
Natural language search and purchasing have the potential to render traditional online storefronts obsolete, as conversational AI agents with text and voice modalities become more prevalent. This means, having users manually search, apply filters on search result pages, add items to cart, and fill out checkout forms become a medium of the past. This shift ushers in a new era of "natural-language purchasing." With some predications saying agents armed with digital wallets will represent the majority of online transactions by 2030.
Buybase is positioned as the infrastructure for purchasing agents or as some may call "AI shopping assistants."
We offer a developer API designed to search, personalize, recommend, and purchase products from various marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Shopify, etc) on behalf of your users. Our solution is not bound by official third-party APIs, is built to be LLM-first, and offers a way for developers to capture a percent of each transaction for monetizing their apps.
Buybase’s API offers several features to support developers purchasing agent applications:
• Authentication: Manages user account session data, bot detection, two-factor authentication, and captchas.
• Monetization: Provides infrastructure to collect transaction fees from users, allowing developers to earn a percentage of each transaction.
• Maintenance: Maintains search and purchasing automation with e-commerce platforms.
• Personalization: Tracks user preferences and order history to enhance search results.
• Developer-Friendly: Offers comprehensive documentation for quick integration.
• Security: Implements a zero-trust architecture and encrypted user session storage.
Right now, we are in private beta, offer Amazon search and purchasing on behalf of users, and are actively looking for builders and developers to join and provide feedback. If you're interested in joining, please go to https://buybase.ai and click "Join API Beta"!

URL: https://www.pocketdecks.net

Description: I was looking for a site to build and browse user-submitted decks for Pokemon TCG Pocket, and didn't feel satisfied with any of the options I found. This motivated me to build a new one with the goal of making something that was intuitive to use and works on mobile devices too.

49. Show HN: @thecupid@cupid.careers (OkCupid for jobs) integrates web and Fediverse
URL: #
Author: rglullis
Description: I’ve been running CareerCupid [0] for some years already (initial "Show HN" [1]), and now I’ve got the first step into integrating with ActivityPub. The site now has an ActivityPub service which posts questions into the overall Fediverse. Any interaction with the service automatically register your AP account and can let you keep track of your responses, to see how well you match with others.
There is a lot more to be done. The questions are now focused on tech (something that I would like to change and help people in all sorts of industries). The website itself is pretty bare-bones. But the idea that one can actually use AP as a “proper” application protocol instead of just emulating existing centralized social networks really appeals to me.
I would like to take the opportunity that today we have the "Who is hiring?" thread to invite everyone to join.
This might be a “job site”, but the idea is that it can be useful and helpful even for those who are happy at their jobs. E.g, if your company is hiring and you want to help bring people that are like-minded, it would make perfect sense to join in and browse around. It can be what LinkedIn should’ve been: a tool for networking, without the tools of self-promotion and clout-chasing.
If you don't have a AP account at any one of the platforms that supports the typical microblogging features, you can of course just sign-up to the website to create a "regular" account. You will also need a "regular" account if you want to use the site to add job listings or browse the profiles of candidates.

55. Show HN: Chipper AI RAG Toolbox
URL: https://chipper.tilmangriesel.com/
Author: TilmanGriesel
Description: This project started as a way to support my girlfriend with her new book and to explore the world of LLMs and RAGs. The goal was to use local embeddings to ask insightful questions about characters and unlock creative possibilities, all while ensuring everything stayed local.
What began as a collection of scripts has evolved into a heartfelt, labor-of-love pet project.
I’ve already shared some earlier progress here, but I’ve made significant improvements since then and gave it its own project website too. I’d love to hear your thoughts :)

58. Show HN: BeatApp – A Productivity Tool for Task Management and Collaboration
URL: https://www.beatapp.xyz/login
Author: beatX
Description: Have you ever been frustrated with the one-dimensional nature of traditional task management apps? You know the type—simple to-do lists where everything is just linear and disconnected. Tasks are presented as isolated items , without context or understanding of how they relate to each other . As a result, productivity feels like you're constantly jumping between scattered tasks , without a clear view of the bigger picture .
Why I Built BeatApp:
After struggling with this kind of task management for too long , I realized that the best productivity tools should offer context and connections between tasks, not just checkboxes to mark off . That’s why I created BeatApp—a task management tool that goes beyond the basics and helps you visualize tasks as part of a larger workflow . Here’s how it’s different:
What Makes BeatApp Different:
Multidimensional Task Management : BeatApp uses a visual approach with React Flow to show tasks as interconnected nodes . Dependencies are represented with edges, so you can see how everything fits together and make smarter decisions about what to work on next .
Spotify Integration for Focus : Music makes a huge difference in focus . BeatApp syncs with Spotify, offering playlists tailored to your productivity level . Whether you need something to get into a flow state or something to chill with , BeatApp has you covered.
Real-Time Collaboration : Work on tasks with others in real time . BeatApp is built to let teams collaborate easily , keeping everyone aligned and ensuring tasks stay on track .
Task Recommendations : BeatApp analyzes your workload and suggests the most important tasks to tackle next.
Leaderboards and Stats : BeatApp tracks your progress and lets you see how productive you’ve been over time . Plus, there’s a weekly leaderboard to inspire a bit of friendly competition .
Why BeatApp: Unlike traditional task managers , BeatApp isn’t just a digital to-do list . It’s a multidimensional productivity tool that helps you understand how your tasks relate , keep you focused with music , and collaborate seamlessly with others . It’s all about connecting the dots in your workflow , so productivity doesn’t feel like a solo race anymore .

59. Show HN: Tears (simplistic app for how to help someone sad)
Author: azriel91
Description: Heya, I went through a sad time, and realized many people who want to help, either don't know how, or don't realize their eagerness may be the very thing that makes their help be experienced as something distressing.
So I made this little app that takes two inputs: trust they have with the person, and the person's current mood, and suggests a really open ended suggestion (besides the "stay away" ones -- those are pretty closed).
I might add some drawings to it since it looks pretty plain right now, but I have to (re)learn how to draw.
