1. Show HN: Watch 3 AIs compete in real-time stock trading
URL: https://trading.snagra.com
Author: sunnynagra
Description: A live dashboard where you can watch GPT-4, Claude 3, and Gemini analyze market data and make daily stock trades with real money. Each AI explains its reasoning, and you can compare their different approaches to the same data.
Link: https://trading.snagra.com?utm_source=hn (no signup required)
What you can try right now:
- Watch live trades from GPT-4, Claude 3, and Gemini
- Read each AI's full analysis and reasoning
- Compare their different interpretations of the same market data
- Track their real-time performance and win rates
- View historical trades and performance metrics
Built this over the holidays to study how different AI models approach financial decisions. Each morning at 9:30 AM EST, the AIs analyze market data and make real trades with $5 stakes.
Technical Implementation:
- Next.js frontend with real-time updates
- Node.js/Lambda backend for AI processing
- PostgreSQL for trade tracking
- Alpaca API for automated trading
- Consistent prompts for all models
Data Flow:
- Daily market analysis (9:30 AM EST)
- Each AI gets identical inputs:
- Financial headlines
- Market summaries
- Technical indicators
- Earnings reports
- AIs provide:
- Stock picks with reasoning
- Entry/exit conditions
- Risk assessment
- Automated trade execution
Note: This is an experiment in AI behavior, not investment advice. The goal is to study how different LLMs interpret financial data and make decisions with real consequences.
I'll be around to answer questions about the implementation.

2. Show HN: Obsess Jobs – Apply to jobs in your sleep
Author: PointedResponse
Description: Hello! I got tired of filling out applications so I built a bot to do it for me. I decided it would probably be useful to everyone else looking for a job in this hellish market, so I built a site that applies to jobs for you, completely automatically. It took me about three months to build and I'm pretty proud of how smoothly it works. You can: Click the "Auto Apply" button next to postings in the search results and keep scrolling. It'll get added to a queue and processed within 2-5 minutes Click the Zero-Click toggle in the top right of a search and it will automatically apply day and night to jobs that fit that criteria.
I also added some other cool stuff like real time updates and the ability to see any submitted application and the exact answers that were provided so that you can monitor and self-validate. All applications are completed on the company's actual job board so your application has priority over 3rd party job aggregator sites. It doesn't go straight to the trash like LinkedIn's Easy Apply feature. Lastly, you can still apply manually if you just want to use it as a job search tool!
Happy New Year!

7. Show HN: GitHub repository through a Podcast
URL: https://www.gitpodcast.com/
Author: mkagenius
Description: Understanding any GitHub repository is tough, especially a big one - this project aims to make it a tad bit easier by giving the listener a primer + some details on the specific repository.
For some people (like me) - audio/visual medium is more easily understandable. So, I hope this project is helpful to some of them.
This project was inspired by https://gitdiagram.com - so check it out as well, and maybe use them together for better understanding.
Future plans:
1. To add more voices and let users choose most natural one (decide between OpenAI/Microsoft Speech)
2. Custom instructions to the SSML creator.
Self hosting:
1. For speech - You can use Microsoft Speech (they do have free credits I think)
2. For SSML text - You can also use Gemini flash 2.0 exp - with 15 free credits (I am using OpenAI GPT 4o)

9. Show HN: A remake of my 2004 PDA video game
URL: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html
Author: victorNicollet
Description: My background project for the last two years has been re-implementing my 2004 C++ shoot'em up game in TypeScript + WebGL, and it's finally done (just in time for the 20th anniversary!)
Play the game online: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/darklaga.html
Technical article about the remake: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html
I have tested Firefox, Chrome and Edge on desktop and mobile (no access to a device capable of running Safari).
It's amazing how much difference 20 years makes: the hardware is so much more powerful, the web as a deployment platform is so much easier than side-loading onto a PDA through a serial cable or sharing .exe files through e-mail, and my experience as a professional developer makes almost everything so much easier... but at the same, it didn't feel that the language, editor or debugger (TypeScript on Visual Studio Code) were significantly better than good old Visual C++ 6.
Repository with the code of the remake: https://github.com/VictorNicollet/Darklaga (sadly, I cannot provide the video and audio assets themselves under any open license).

10. Show HN: Action, a Claude Computer Use Launcher for macOS
URL: https://action.new
Author: lawrencechen
Description: Action is a macOS launcher that can take actions (click, type, and more) on your Mac using Claude’s Computer Use API.
The interface is a floating window triggered by a keyboard shortcut, similar to Spotlight. This lets you see what the model outputs as it performs actions. It’s written in Swift, and the DMG size is relatively small at roughly 3 MB. You can download the macOS client today at https://action.new (requires Anthropic API key).
To be frank, LLMs’ computer use capabilities (including Claude) are still a little slow and error prone. I find Action most valuable as an LLM that has immediate context of my screen.
I’ll be adding support for other providers—and hopefully local computer use models—as they become available.

11. Show HN: dorm: Django wrapper that lets you use its ORM in standalone manner
URL: https://pypi.org/project/dorm-project/
Author: Harsh182
Description: dorm is a lightweight wrapper around Django that provides a minimal interface to its ORM. This package allows you to quickly integrate Django's powerful ORM into your project with minimal configuration—simply add a settings.py file to the project root and you're ready to start using it.
PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/dorm-project/ Source: https://github.com/daadu/dorm
Give me feedback, if you do give it a try.
## Motivation I’ve always been a big fan of the Django ORM, especially its features like automatic schema migrations and the ability to perform joins without writing raw SQL.
Over time, I’ve used it outside of full Django projects whenever I needed to interact with a database. Given the richness of Django’s ORM, I found other standalone ORMs (like SQLAlchemy) to be lacking in comparison. During these experiences, I kept wondering: what if I could use just the ORM, without the need for manage.py, views.py, urls.py, or any unnecessary entries in settings.py?
That’s how the idea for this project was born.

14. Show HN: GitHub Wrapped – analyzing every file change in every commit
Author: hellovai
Description: hey all! Vaibhav and Ethan here.
We asked a silly question, "what if you attempted to look into every commit of every repo?" and over the holidays ended up building something kind of fun.
Here's some interesting stats: Charlie Marsh has put a crazy amount of work in on UV... so far #1 with over 149k minutes of work this year. (103 days of non-stop coding ).. #2 is me with 85k (just over 59 days...) on BAML #3 - Jérémy M. with 82k (57 days) working on Twenty #4 - Alexander Belanger with 79k (54 days) working on Hatchet
Some fun repos:
https://wrapped.dev/repo/microsoft/vscode
https://wrapped.dev/repo/boundaryml/baml
https://wrapped.dev/repo/neovim/neovim
https://wrapped.dev/repo/resend/react-email
https://wrapped.dev/repo/ggerganov/llama.cpp
https://wrapped.dev/repo/facebook/react
How it works:
1. we git clone the repos
2. we use llama-70b to analyze every file change
3. we aggregate analysis to understand the scope / "quality" of a commit
4. we aggregate the commits to generate a wrapped! (last part uses gemini due to the 2 million context window).
Feel free to submit more repos!

16. Show HN: Quantum-Enhanced Mathematical Reasoning System – Expert Verification
URL: #
Author: nandakishor_ml
Description: We've developed an approach combining quantum computing with Meta-Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct to enhance mathematical reasoning. Our system proved that α must be an even integer for IMO 2024 Problem 1, where GPT-4 and Claude 3.5 failed. We seek expert verification of our methodology and results. The Problem: Find all real α where ⌊α⌋ + ⌊2α⌋ + ... + ⌊nα⌋ is divisible by n for all positive integers n. Our Approach: We represent mathematical reasoning as quantum states in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space, encoding both amplitude (token probabilities) and phase (logical relationships) information. A custom Hamiltonian guides the exploration of mathematical relationships through quantum evolution. Key Innovation: The system uses quantum interference to detect mathematical properties:
Valid reasoning shows constructive interference Contradictions create destructive interference Patterns emerge through phase relationships
Implementation:
Base: Meta-Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct Quantum dimension: 512 Convergence threshold: 0.98 Stability window: 3 steps
Results:
GPT-4 (github.com/NandhaKishorM/quantum_reflection/blob/main/gpt4o.md)
Attempted integer proof but missed evenness Failed to complete proof
Claude 3.5 (github.com/NandhaKishorM/quantum_reflection/blob/main/claude_sonnet_3.5.md)
Made incorrect assumptions Missed evenness pattern
Our Solution (github.com/NandhaKishorM/quantum_reflection/blob/main/quantum_resoning.md)
Proved α must be even Showed why odd integers fail Complete mathematical justification
Areas Needing Verification:
Quantum State Representation: Is our encoding of mathematical statements sound? Does phase encoding correctly capture logical relationships? Hamiltonian Design: Have we correctly designed the evolution operator? Are there missing edge cases? Interference Analysis: Is our interpretation of interference patterns rigorous? Are alternative explanations possible? Proof Completeness: Have we conclusively proven even integers are the only solutions?
Implementation:
Repository: github.com/NandhaKishorM/quantum_reflection Architecture: See quantum_system.svg in docs Full implementation in main.py
Key Questions:
Is our quantum interference interpretation valid as mathematical proof? Are there failure modes in our state representation? Can this approach generalize to other problems? What additional verification steps would you recommend?
We welcome rigorous analysis from:
Quantum computing researchers Mathematicians Theoretical computer scientists AI researchers
The quantum state evolution revealed crucial patterns:
Odd integers → destructive interference Even integers → quantum coherence Non-integers → phase decoherence
This led to proving even integers are the only solutions. We seek verification of both our methodology and conclusions. Technical requirements: Understanding of quantum computing, mathematical logic, number theory, and neural language models.

17. Show HN: Cave Adventure 1976 PICO-8 port
URL: https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=50561
Author: benstopics
Description: Made this during COVID. I was into PICO-8 at the time and saw someone ported DOOM to it. I'm more of a text adventure guy, so I decided to port ADVENT. Basically I wrote a FORTRAN-to-Lua transpiler. The hardest part was figuring out what version of FORTRAN the source code was written in, finding a manual, cramming it into the limited cartridge space, but most of all, wrapping my mind around the data file format. Always admired Will Crowther for making this. Very fun project. I recorded myself during the whole process but I never posted a video. Future work maybe.

19. Show HN: Making AI IDEs remember project context
URL: #
Author: namanyayg
Description: Like many developers, I've found AI coding tools incredibly powerful but they seem to be unable to provide useful results as project size increases.
I'm building a VSCode/Cursor extension that maintains persistent project context:
Technical implementation:
- Watches git history and file changes to auto-document project evolution
- Maintains a structured representation of architecture decisions
- Creates an auto-updating knowledge base of project dependencies and patterns
The goal is to make AI assistants actually maintain working context of your project, rather than having to re-explain your stack and architecture repeatedly.
Launched in a close beta only, please let me know if you're interested in beta testing and I'll reach out!

20. Show HN: Customizable, Printable Visual progress tracker based on Jerry Seinfeld
URL: https://www.dontbreakthecha.in/
Author: bilalasd
Description: Hello Hacker News community! I'm excited to introduce Don't Break the Chain, a project born from my own need for a visual progress tracker to achieve goals through consistency.
I made this after reading the the story from Brad Isaac about an advice he received from Jerry Seinfeld.
"He told me to get a big wall calendar that has a whole year on one page and hang it on a prominent wall. The next step was to get a big red magic marker. He said for each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day.
[Then Jerry said]: After a few days you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job is to not break the chain."
This tool is designed for anyone who wants to track progress in a visual way.
What goals are you working on currently? I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

25. Show HN: Transcription and summarization. No app, no account. Just a phone call
URL: #
Author: mjstahl
Description: Good morning.
My name is Mark. I am the creator of Hello Notes.
I get a lot of ideas pacing my house, taking walks, etc, but for a developer I have severe app and subscription fatigue. I created a service that turns the device I talk to the most into a transcriber.
Here's how it works:
* You call +1 (435) 562-9028
- You will hear a brief message telling you what to do and expect and how much time you have remaining (60 minutes to start with).
- You hear a beep. Start talking.
- Hang-up and you will receive a text message (the shorter the recording, the quicker the text message comes) with 3 keywords and a link to the transcription and summarization.
Paying for the service is also simple; a Stripe Link page that requires a phone number. This adds time to the phone number provided. That time never expires.
With LLM's, summarization and transcription are commoditized but the user experience is not. I wanted the facilitating technology out of the way so that I could quickly get access to the thing I wanted to do; transcribe what I say and provide me a summary including any action items.
If you decided to give us a call. I thank you for your time. Have a great day.

URL: https://lluminy.com
Author: knivets
Description: Hi everyone!
I built lluminy to solve the pain of documenting Python code. It:
- Uses LLama 3.3 to generate code comments
- To avoid code hallucinations, it parses Python files into AST, and only modifies function docstrings
- Integrates with GitHub (submits results as pull requests)
- Handles projects of any size with minimal setup
Try it out: https://lluminy.com
Here's what I'm planning to work on next:
- Automatic documentation suggestions on GitHub PRs
- Sphinx integration
- Support for more languages (JavaScript and others)
- Alternative LLM options
Looking forward to feedback from the HN community!

39. Show HN: Public Domain Video Search
URL: https://www.seeksequence.com/video/public_domain
Author: djacobs7
Description: Public Domain Day is today.
I built this website to help you search through video in the public domain. It's always exciting when the new videos come into the public domain each year, but it can be hard to find them, watch them, and ultimately remix them.
The backend uses twelvelabs for search and indexing. Frontend is nextjs. There is also a Premiere plugin, so if you happen to work in Adobe Premiere, you can easily download, clip, and remix the videos.
This is a small tool where you can search public domain video by queries "train" or "happiness" or "hat" - looking for things you want to see, or things you want to feel.
If you are editing video, it's a great way to get short clips that you can use in your projects.
It's also a fun way to see how things were portrayed roughly 100 years ago.
Would love to hear community feedback.

- Deployed on Hetzner servers using Coolify
I think knowledge should be free and accessible, so I really wanted to make something with as low bareer of entry as possible. I hope you will enjoy it.
I want to understand how people interact with each other on Bluesky. The tool analyzes everything from sentiment patterns to optimal posting times, if you have any ideas for interesting metrics I can introduce, feel free to reach out!
Feedback welcome! Happy New Year!

URL: https://github.com/nexconnectio/pynnex
Author: san_tekart
Description: Hi HN,
I've been working on a new Python library called PynneX, aimed at making it simpler to build event-driven architectures without relying on heavy frameworks. It started as a personal project while I was experimenting with threading and async features in Python 3.10+ and realized there was a gap in lightweight solutions for signal-slot patterns.

48. Show HN: Subreddit for Bench users to talk to each other and compare notes
URL: https://old.reddit.com/r/BenchUsers
Author: jbeard4
Description: Hello HN,
As a current/former Bench user, there's been a lot of confusion over the past week following Bench's sudden collapse and acquisition. For reference, see previous HN posts here:
* https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42549343
I have found this situation difficult to navigate, as there is a dearth of information available to inform my choices. For example, when you attempt to login now, they ask whether you would like to consent to share your information with employer.com, or receive a link to download your data. This raises a number of questions about how to move forward.
There's been some opportunity for discussion on these previous HN posts, but I felt like a permanent home was needed for Bench users to talk to each other and compare notes, so I created a subreddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BenchUsers
Thank you.
