URL: https://github.com/thiswillbeyourgithub/AnkiAIUtils
Author: Ey7NFZ3P0nzAe
Description: Hi hn, I am nearly at the end of medical school so it is time I publish and "advertise" my open source scripts/apps for anki! Here's the pitch:
Anki AI Utils is a suite of AI-powered tools designed to automatically improve cards you find challenging. Whether you're studying medicine, languages, or any complex subject, these tools can:
- Explain difficult concepts with clear, ChatGPT-generated explanations.
- Illustrate key ideas using Dall-E or Stable Diffusion-generated images.
- Create mnemonics tailored to your memory style, including support for the Major System.
- Reformulate poorly worded cards for clarity and better retention.
Key Features:
- Adaptive Learning: Uses semantic similarity to match cards with relevant examples.
- Personalized Memory Hooks: Builds on your existing mnemonics for stronger recall.
- Automation Ready: Run scripts daily to enhance cards you struggled with.
- Universal Compatibility: Works across all Anki clients (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS).
Example:
For a flashcard about febrile seizures, Anki AI Utils can:
- Generate a Dall-E illustration of a toddler holding a teacup next to a fireplace.
- Create mnemonics like "A child stumbles near the fire, dances symmetrically, has one strike, and fewer than three fires."
- Provide an explanation of why febrile seizures occur and their diagnostic criteria.

2. Show HN: Resizer2 – i3/KDE window movement on Windows
URL: https://github.com/alvesvaren/resizer2
Author: alvel
Description: I was really frustrated when I needed to go back to windows after using KDE for a few years, and becoming used to the Meta+Mouse keybinds for resizing and moving windows around, so I made a script for it that lets me use those shortcuts on windows too, maybe someone here finds it useful too?
I also really need help with a name for the project, resizer2 doesn't sound that cool and catchy :(

3. Show HN: Open-source and transparent alternative to Honey
URL: https://github.com/Abdallah-Alwarawreh/Syrup
Author: MasterAbood
Description: Hey everyone, After watching MegaLag’s investigation into the Honey affiliate scam, I decided to create something better. I’m 18, an open-source enthusiast, and this is my first big project that’s actually getting some attention.
It's called Syrup, a fully open-source and transparent alternative to Honey. My goal is to make a browser extension that’s honest, ethical, and user-focused, unlike the Honey.
I’m still figuring things out, from maintaining the project on GitHub to covering future costs for a custom marketing website. It’s not easy balancing all this as a university student, but I’m managing as best as I can because I really believe in this project.
If you’re interested, check it out! I’d love feedback, contributions, or just help spreading the word. Thanks for reading, and let’s make something awesome together.

- Built with Next.js + Tailwind + shadcn/ui
- Backend: Node.js + Redis (minimal, only for signaling)

- Files stream directly to disk
Background: I'm a C++ algorithm engineer and father of two who built this in my spare time over 4 months while learning full-stack development. Used AI pair programming extensively, which was an interesting learning experience.
I'd love feedback from the HN community. What features would make this more useful for your workflow?

6. Show HN: Sine Wave Speech, a real-time audio effect in Rust->WASM
URL: https://www.sinewavespeech.com/live/
Author: vvolhejn
Description: Source code: https://github.com/vvolhejn/sine_wave_speech
An interactive website for exploring how human speech can be reduced to just a few sine waves and still be intelligible - or at least recognized to be a human voice. On top of that, I've added various ways to make the sound more musical.
The sound effect is based on research from the 80s, which has largely been forgotten by then.
To have the effect run in real-time in the browser, I opted to use Rust compiled into WebAssembly. Still, I had to rewrite some linear algebra routines. More about that experience in the blog post: https://vvolhejn.com/2024/11/16/sinewavespeech-com-live.html

9. Show HN: A financial analysis and research tool powered by agents
URL: https://github.com/chisasaw/zenith
Author: warrowarro
Description: Hey HN!
I've always been fascinated by financial markets. This month, I decided to build a tool to help with the research of stocks and cryptocurrencies. I'm using YFinance as a data source because it's free and provides a wide range of reliable market data. For sentiment analysis, I'm leveraging Google Trends to gauge public interest and sentiment over time.
The tool, named Zenith, is a command-line utility with four main features:
Market Analysis: Provides insights like moving averages, RSI, and volatility for selected stocks or cryptocurrencies. Sentiment Analysis: Uses Google Trends to visualize sentiment for specific keywords. Quantitative Strategies: Implements trading strategies such as momentum, mean reversion, and pairs trading. Portfolio Management: Analyzes and visualizes portfolio performance and correlations. The goal is to make research accessible, even for those new to financial analysis, while still being powerful enough for experienced users.
It's still a work in progress, and I’d love feedback or suggestions on features you'd find helpful. I'm also considering integrating LLMs to summarize key data points or assist in generating more detailed analyses.
The project is open-source, and you can find it here: [https://github.com/chisasaw/zenith]. Contributions or stars are welcome!
What tools or workflows do you use for financial research? Would you find something like this useful? Let me know your thoughts!

11. Show HN: Browser extension to summarize HN comments – bring your own AI models
URL: https://github.com/levelup-apps/hn-enhancer
Author: georgeck
Description: We’re George and Ann, and want to share a Hacker News specific browser extension that we have been working on.
We all love the rich discussions in HN, but navigating long posts with multiple threads can sometimes be challenging. You get lost in the depth and breadth of the discussion. There are a few AI-based summarization tools, but they typically focus on summarizing the article rather than the comments, and thus miss the essence of threaded discussions.
So, we built Hacker News Companion, a browser extension that makes it easy to navigate discussions and understand diverse viewpoints using AI tools of your choice. The goal is simple - make the comments the true hero in HN.
AI summaries for discussions
- Summarize any thread or full post
- See the key points, takeaways and notable quotes in summary panel
- Jump to specific threads from the summary with auto-generated backlinks - allowing you to re-engage in the discussion
- Bring your own AI models - local or cloud-based:
—- Local: Ollama with any local model (privacy-focused, runs locally)
—- Cloud: OpenAI/Claude - use your API key
—- Browser: Chrome's built-in AI powered by Gemini Nano
Vim-inspired keyboard navigation:
- Home row keys to move through posts and comments (home pages and comments page)
- j/k for next/previous, h/l for parent/child comments
- o to open posts, c for comments
- ? or / for all shortcuts, s to toggle the summary panel
- Navigate author comments: use [ and ] keys or arrow buttons next to username
- Hover usernames to see karma and profile info
Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPRh7UKYd8E
You can try it immediately by installing from Chrome Web Store https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hacker-news-compani...
No signup needed. The extension preserves privacy (no analytics/tracking) and the code is open source - https://github.com/levelup-apps/hn-enhancer
Technical details - our learnings about summarizing threaded discussions and comparing the performance of various models are detailed in the project wiki [0].
Related HN discussions on this topic - A recent Show HN post on 'Bring-your-own-key browser extension for summarizing HN posts with LLMs' [1].
Try it out and let us know how it works for you. Would love your feedback and contributions!

URL: https://rapidfeedback.xyz
Author: akshat8605
Description: Hey HN,
I’ve noticed a growing frustration among users with fake testimonials—so much so that even genuine ones are often dismissed as fake! To tackle this, we’ve created an authentic testimonial management tool.
It helps you collect and share verified testimonials with your users, building trust and credibility for your product or service.
I’d love to hear your feedback on this idea—it’s incredibly valuable to us!

17. Show HN: Recursively detects and decodes multiple formats in nested data
URL: https://datadecode.online/blog/beyond-simple-decoding
Author: ngzhixiao
Description: I built an auto-decoder library that can:
1. Automatically detect and decode various formats (URL, Base64, JWT, QueryString, etc.) 2. Recursively parse nested encodings (e.g. URL with Base64 parameters containing JSON) 3. Handle ambiguous inputs by providing multiple decode possibilities with confidence scores 4. Preserve the decode path for nested structures
For example, it can parse:
- URLs containing Base64-encoded JSON parameters
- Query strings with JWT tokens that contain nested Base64 values
- JSON objects with multiple encoded fields

18. Show HN: A free OG image generator
Author: weijunext
Description: I made this tool because I was tired of opening Figma every time I needed a social preview image. You can create professional-looking OG images by simply:
- Pick a template
- Type your text
- Click save
No design skills needed, no Figma/Photoshop required, no account setup. Just clicks.
Features:
- Browser-based, zero installation
- Instant preview as you edit
- Export to PNG/JPEG/WebP
- API available for automation
- Built-in templates optimized for social platforms
- Responsive grid system that "just works"
The goal was to make it as frictionless as possible - if you can click a mouse, you can create OG images.
Looking forward to your feedback!

22. Show HN: Handwritten Christmas Card for Hacker News
URL: https://handwritten-card.vercel.app/show-hn
Author: muc-martin
Description: Hi HN,
I’ve been working on a small project that transforms handwritten notes into animated, shareable cards. While the create functionality isn’t live yet, I wanted to share a sneak peek by creating a handwritten Christmas card specifically for the HN community.
I started thinking about this after seeing too many AI-generated cards, cookie-cutter email templates, and overly polished designs that lack any personal touch. A friend recently sent me a handwritten card in the mail, and I found it nice that he took his time to write a handwritten note. I wanted to capture that same feeling without the overhead of snail mail.

29. Show HN: OSS Ecosystem for WhatsApp Marketing, Sales and Transactional Comms
URL: https://github.com/wapikit/wapikit
Author: sarthakjdev
Description: I am little curious to talk about WapiKit and in general the whole ecosystem it intends to nurture.
This is something I have been working to build for quite sometime. It is an open-source ecosystem making WhatsApp marketing accessible.
wapikit.com is the core and flagship product, which is a self-hosting enabled, performant and single-binary executable WhatsApp Campaign manager, live team inbox & no-code chat flow configurator, with a lot of features, we will explore more about each features in the upcoming product updates.
WapiKit has both the UI and API interfaces available.
Here’s what it can do: Manage Contact Lists: Efficiently handle your contacts for campaign management. Segment Contacts: Easily segment your audience for targeted marketing. Live Team Inbox: Allow multiple team members to manage conversations simultaneously. Integrations: Connect seamlessly with Slack, custom website chat widgets, and AI plugins through our integration suite. AI-Enabled Features: Enable auto-replies by integrating LLM models.
You can join us here: https://join.slack.com/t/wapikit/shared_invite/zt-2kl7eg29s-...
Use this as your self hosted WhatsApp business manager for sales, marketing and customer support integration.
We have already shipped the alpha release with campaign management features, and contact list management. And on the way to ship the live team inbox feature.
Then there is, js.wapikit.com ( wapi.js ) and go.wapikit.com ( wapi.go ), both these SDKs are independently built, to serve the same purpose of using them as a tool to easily build application over WhatsApp business APIs, either it be the WhatsApp chat bots or some other backend application. They works well with WhatsApp business management API and WhatsApp cloud API. You can check out their documentation. Ask me in comment section, if anything. I have shared a couple of use case examples in past posts. Even WapiKit itself uses Wapi.go at the backend.

31. Show HN: Folio.fm – Turn any address into your own DEX front end
URL: https://folio.fm
Author: ya7ya
Description: Hey, this little app is basically linktree meets crypto, turn any address into a DEX frontend, add your links & customize it with skins (images / yt / tiktok), earn 1% referral fee when users buy off your frontend.
some technical details:
- this uses Uniswap and Raydium SDKs to slice the extra fees without having to a smart contract wrapper onchain.
- it was so much easier to work with EVM compared to solana because of solana account structure but we got it done.
- Youtube and Tiktok embeds are used as a backdrop which is great because i don't wanna deal with hosting video.
- there is no claims or anything like that, the referral fee is sent in the same TX.
- you can also buyAll which will 1 click ape in for an entire folio.
- The goal was to build something the blend a bit of the meme culture that enables users to show a bit of personality with existing tools.
Lemme know what you think.
P.S. it's on ProductHunt front page right now too would love an upvote if you like it.
Cheers
