URL: https://github.com/dcrebbin/oai-voice-mode-chat-mac
Author: devon_c
Description: They'll probably add it natively soon but I'm a big voice mode user and wanted a way to copy code and to see the conversation in real time.
This is a mac app but I've also made a chrome extension and a (half finished) vscode extension too if that floats your boat.
Could also be used for language learning too : )
note: You can start a conversation from anywhere including the mobile app. Also doesn't work with Santa mode as those conversations don't seem to be stored atm.

4. Show HN: Librarian a Modern Kafka Connect Toolkit
URL: https://github.com/turbolytics/librarian
Author: dm03514
Description: Hello Everyone. I'm working on improving Kafka Connect. Kafka connect lacks a lot of data visibility, making it difficult to use and operate as a backbone of data pipelines.
We're trying to create a kafka connect for modern data.
Right now librarian only supports "Snapshoting", but during winter break I'm going to start hacking on the Streaming replication component.
This first version of librarian can snapshot postgres tables and save them as parquet. Although duckdb offers this feature too, librarian provides enhanced data observability through its snapshot "catalog".
The catalog provides an inventory of the snapshot including duration, source counts and target counts.
------
Do you use Kafka connect regularly? What do you use it for? What would you change about it? What works with kafka connect? What's challenging?
Thank you all,
Hopefully in a couple weeks I have a more mature product to show!

11. Show HN: Retirementodds.com – a versatile free retirement Monte Carlo calculator
URL: https://www.retirementodds.com
Author: retirementodds
Description: I built a retirement calculator because I couldn't find one for free that did everything I wanted. This originated as a spreadsheet that helped me with my FIRE journey, and now its my retirement passion project.
RetirementOdds.com has a simple mode for getting started, but a much more capable advanced mode. In advanced mode, you can have an unlimited number of assets and cash flows. It handles specialty cash flows like investment real estate, health care, social security, and loans. Every cash flow can have custom start and end dates and rates of return or inflation. Federal and state tax expenses are estimated for you, including handling of long term capital gains.
The computation is a Monte Carlo "chance of success" based on a normalized distribution of returns with an average and standard deviation that you specify. Plus eight different useful charts in the results pane. You can also do a "What If" calculation which allows you to choose one parameter to vary while it runs the calculation multiple times to see how it affects the results.
Tech stack: Front end is "vanilla" Javascript with help from Plotly.js. Back-end (calculations) are Java on AWS Lambda.
Future features:
- Drawdown re-ordering
- RMD handling
- Charts improvements
- Sequence of returns and recession modeling
Feedback is much appreciated!

17. Show HN: Find in-person work in NYC that is actually convenient
URL: https://www.walkablework.com/
Author: wluer
Description: I've been working on a site that helps you find in-person work in NYC that is actually convenient for you.
I cofounded a remote startup in 2021 that I ended up leaving after a few years because I found the remote culture to be very isolating and I didn't feel like it would lead to us building a successful company. I wanted to work closely with people who I could learn from and enjoy the day with.
When I was looking around for my next opportunity, I found it frustrating that I had no way to filter for jobs that were close to where I live. I find restaurants, apartments, and things to do in NYC by looking at a map so why shouldn't I be able to find a job, the place I go to most frequently, on a map as well?
Many companies have started implementing return to office policies that unfortunately don't make sense for a lot of their employees and many early stage startups are only hiring in-person/hybrid roles. I thought that a tool like this would help those companies find talent that wants to work in person and allow job seekers to index on location in a way they haven't able to before.
I recognize that in-person/hybrid work isn't for everybody and I'm not here to claim it's better than remote work. I just wanted to build this site to give people the power to find good jobs, companies, and teams that are convenient for them.
Let me know if you have any feedback or want to see it started in another city!

21. Show HN: HS student built an AI lab that makes dev tools and free tech courses
Author: arlanrakh
Description: I’m Arlan, the 17-year-old Founder & CEO of Nozomio, and I’m thrilled to share our platform with you all today. Nozomio is an applied AI lab that offers developers a complete “inventory” of tools, resources, and community support—all for free.
Why did I build Nozomio?
We’re entering the age of AI agents and automated workflows, which means developers now have incredible potential at their fingertips—if they can navigate and harness these tools effectively. I saw a huge gap in accessible, up-to-date resources that not only teach modern web development but also show how to integrate AI into real-world projects. My goal with Nozomio is to help developers of all skill levels learn faster, build better products, and thrive in this new tech landscape.

24. Show HN: Lightweight log viewer with Python-powered filtering and formatting
URL: #
Author: dloss
Description: I'd like to share "klp", a command-line log viewer for investigating small to medium-sized log files (up to ~100k lines). While there are faster and more mature log viewers out there, I think klp has some features that might be interesting:
- Visualize log level patterns with --levelmap showing the density of different log levels over time (e.g., IIIWWEEE for a sequence of INFO, WARNING, ERROR)
- Visual separation of time gaps with --mark-gaps INTERVAL (e.g., 1h) to spot suspicious quiet periods
- Condense bursts of events with --fuse INTERVAL (e.g., 1h) to highlight when activity starts and ends
- Built-in regexes for common patterns (URLs, IPs, file paths, email addresses, common error messages, and many others)
- Python expressions for complex filtering: --where "int(status) >= 500 and 'timeout' in message.lower()"
- Built-in support for logfmt, JSON Lines, CSV, SQLite and others, plus ability to write ad-hoc parsers in Python on the command line
- Custom output formatting using Python code and templates
klp is a single Python file with no dependencies beyond Python 3.7+. Install with pip install klp-logviewer or download the file from GitHub:
<https://github.com/dloss/klp>
I originally built this for my own debugging needs at work where I couldn't install other tools. When my employer allowed me to open-source it (MIT license), I added more features to explore ideas I hadn't seen in other log tools.
Since I'm just a single developer maintaining this in my spare time, I've included a carefully curated list of more robust alternatives in the README.
I welcome your feedback on klp and its features, and would be delighted if these ideas inspire other log tools - especially approaches like visual time gaps, fusing events and log level maps.

URL: https://linkbin.com
Author: DasBeasto
Description: Link-in-bio tools like Linktree are great for sharing links, but they’re limited to just one list. Pastebin and similar tools allow sharing unlimited content, but the links are plain and unformatted.
I built Linkbin to bridge this gap. It’s a simple tool where you can paste multiple links, and it generates a clean, shareable page with a link-in-bio style layout. You can create as many pages as you need—for link-in-bios, bookmarks, wishlists, etc. No account is needed!

URL: https://www.diascore.app/

We've built DiaScore to help diabetics and prediabetics like myself make more informed food choices.
It gives a simple score (0-100) for how diabetic-friendly a food is, with a breakdown of key nutritional factors like carbs, sugars, and fiber.
Current Status : It's primarily optimized for mobile web experience, so there are going to be some rough edges visually on desktop. The food search is still something we are figuring out, but we rely on 3rd party data more or less.
Goal : We are trying to see if users find the prototype useful and want to get as much feedback as possible so that we can think about future iterations.

URL: https://www.thebodymatch.com
Author: Deekshana_Reddy
Description: This is one of those fix a problem you can’t ignore projects. Like most online shoppers, I often found myself frustrated: clothes look great on models but disappoint when I try them on. It’s not the clothes, it’s the body shape mismatch.
So, I spent the last few months building TheBodyMatch, a platform where clothes are showcased on models who share your body shape. You get a more relatable and confident shopping experience because seeing is believing, especially when the model reflects you.
It’s still early days. Think of this as a beta where feedback is gold. I’d love for you to try it out here: www.thebodymatch.com and share your thoughts. Is this the future of online fashion? I hope so.

37. Show HN: Pet Project that got me hired for my first web dev position
URL: https://upbeat-hopper-d62a44.netlify.app/
Author: webdev1234568
Description: Hi all,
Was just browsing my old portfolio website and remembered this little game I made a few years ago.
Decided to share for anyone currently struggling to get their first web dev job.
Focusing on having a live website that is something a bit out of the ordinary and something you enjoyed doing goes a long way!
This was just a project to learn HTML canvas, and over some time I developed into a functional mini game.
This got me hired, because during the interview with the CTO for my first web dev job we talked mostly about personal projects and this was one of the ones that we talked about mostly.
Code is not much at all, a spaghetti mess I would say, but in the end it's a project thats working and live on the web for anyone to play.
I sent it for a few of my friends and family and most of them actually played for at least 10 minutes as they were then competing for who got the highest level.
It's not much at all I know, today chat GPT could probably create it in 5 minutes
For me the actual value is actually in having something you created yourself based off an idea, live on the web, mostly coherent and without obvious bugs or spelling errors and can actually be fun to play for a few minutes.

38. Show HN: Dropnread – Prepare your codebase for LLMs with a simple drag and drop
Author: yani
Description: I built this tool because I found myself constantly needing to share codebases with LLMs for analysis, and manually copying files was tedious. The tool strips comments to save tokens, and excludes irrelevant files like node_modules, .git and so on. Just drag a project folder, and it combines all files into a single text that fits within your chosen LLM's token limit.
Features:
- Support for GPT-4, Claude, Gemini models with their respective token limits
- Comment stripping for common programming languages
- Configurable file/folder exclusions with sensible defaults
- Token counting
- No installation needed, works in your browser (the code never leaves the browser)
- Respects your privacy
- Open Source MIT License

44. Show HN: What I Learned Building a SaaS Product as a Student Entrepreneur
URL: https://www.growflyer.com/
Author: heykaizar
Description: Hello HN,
I’m Kaizar, a university student and founder of Growflyer, an all-in-one platform for website analytics, marketing, and user engagement. I built this tool while juggling classes, assignments, and sleepless nights—trying to solve the pain points I experienced with other tools during my earlier projects.
Here’s what I’ve learned along the way:
Build Fast, Fix Later: When you're a student founder, time is your biggest constraint. I had to prioritize getting a minimum viable product out and refine it based on user feedback. Not everything was smooth (like session replay bugs that still haunt me), but shipping something is better than chasing perfection.
Ask for Help, Early and Often: Whether it’s asking users what they really need or leaning on mentors, feedback has been my best teacher.
Juggling Isn’t Easy: Balancing school and building a startup feels impossible some days. The key for me has been finding small, focused blocks of time to work on one clear goal (even if it’s just fixing one bug).
Start Small, Dream Big: Growflyer isn’t competing with giants like Google Analytics — yet. But every new user who says, “This solved my problem,” reminds me why I started this journey.
I’d love to hear from you:
If you’ve ever built something while studying or working a full-time job, how did you make it work?
What advice would you give to someone trying to turn a side project into a real business?
If you’ve used Growflyer (or even if you haven’t), what would you want from a tool like this?
You can check out Growflyer or dive into the details below. I’m here to answer any questions — about the tech stack or what’s next.
Thanks for reading!

47. Show HN: Endless Scrolling Fuels Anxiety – Made Block Scroll to Break the Habit
URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arktechplugins.blockscroll&hl=en_US
Author: arkstellar
Description: I realized I was spending way too much time on short-form content like Shorts, Reels, and TikToks, which severely impacted my attention span and felt like brain rot. To tackle this, I built BlockScroll, an app now available on the Play Store. It blocks shorts, reels, TikToks, and similar distractions without affecting other app features, helping enhance focus and reclaim your time.
After building a Chrome extension to fight distractions [30K+ users: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/remove-youtube-shor...], I realized mobile is where short content fuels the most brain rot. So, after months of work, I built BlockScroll for mobile using Android (Java/Kotlin) and Accessibility APIs.
I’d love your feedback on functionality, UX, and ideas for improvement!
