It lets the creator do things like emulating light direction, making brushstrokes look 3D.
I used them to make a set of metallic brushes. If there are any FOSS artists around, feel free to test them out.

Description: I made a dead simple monitoring tool that integrates with Twilio. It sends you a text when your site goes down. It can be used on a Raspberry Pi, or whatever Linux system you like.
SaaS solutions like uptime.com exist. But I like monitoring and wanted something that was very cheap (less than a penny per alert) and doesn’t require a SaaS subscription.
Feedback and criticism are deeply appreciated <3

Description: Hello HN - I’m Tobi and I am building LimeJourney. LimeJourney is an open source customer engagement platform, a Customer.io /braze etc alternative.
- My Grand thesis for building LimeJourney is that the channels through which we currently receive notifications will not be changing anytime soon but with the increase in data - now more than ever - businesses that will catch the attention of customers are the ones who in some shape or form are intelligently sending notifications(possibly with AI).
- LimeJourney in its current form is very far off from what I hope for it to be but still solves a couple of issues I experienced when working on another project. LimeJourney is relatively cheap($50) - single base plan compared to the other big guys in the market(>$100). It is also open source and I’lld love to see folks who are able to, adopt and self host limeJourney. LimeJourney aims to play real nice with whatever you current email sending stack is and we already have integrations with Resend, AWS and are building more.
- I used a pretty basic full stack typescript stack for building out LimeJourney with Postgres as the DB, Clickhouse for events, Kafka for streaming and deployed on render/vercel.
The codebase is on Github => https://github.com/LimeJourney/limeJourney

Description: I started working on CaseGenius after seeing my brother stay up late nearly every night, buried in research and making slides. One night at 3 AM, he was still piecing together market data, and I thought - this is crazy, there must be a simpler way! So I built this tool for him (and anyone else who’s tired of the research grind). It takes your business question and gives you a ready-to-share case study in minutes. Simple as that. Would love to hear what you all think! I’m just an indie dev trying to make life easier for folks like my brother. Drop your questions below - I’ll be here all day P.S. Some cool things you can do with CaseGenius: - Input such as problems faced, business info and get a comprehensive case study with actionable insights and proper analysis. - Get beautiful, ready-to-present slides (no design skills needed!) - 10+ types of charts to make sure it’s the best one for that data and more… Sounds interesting? In response to the observed gap in some pharmacists’ ability to discuss drugs beyond basic dispensing, I developed RxNotes, a simple note web application designed to share summarized drug information tailored for pharmacists. This platform allows users to search for specific drugs and quickly access concise information about their mechanisms of action (MOA). The application aims to expand its database in the coming days to provide more comprehensive resources. This project serves as my contribution to the pharmacy profession, and I welcome suggestions for improvement and collaboration from fellow pharmacists and developers

Description: Hey everyone!
I got fed up with finding out about server errors from users, so I built LogRapid. It’s a easy to use error logging system that sends you instant notifications (email/Telegram) when something happens.
The whole thing takes a few minutes to set up, just grab an API key and you’re good to go. Works with any backend (Node, Python, PHP, etc.) and I made a tiny library so you can log errors in one line of code.
I’ve been using it on my own projects and it’s already caught several issues before users noticed.
Would love your feedback!

Description: https://github.com/claceio/clace is a project I have been building as a way for teams to easily deploy internal tools. As part of that, I added the ability to create simple auto generated UI for backend actions. The goal is to make it easy to develop and deploy automation scripts, instead of using Rundeck or Jenkins to run scripts.
Clace is implemented in Go. Starlark (python dialect) is used to configure backed actions. You define the params and what action should run (like run a shell script, run a HTTP API or a database call). Clace will show an auto-generated UI. The UI uses HTMX for interactivity, using OOB swap. The results are shown as text, table, JSON tree or even custom HTML reports.

Description: Hey Hacker News!
To test implementing AI (and paywalls tbh) in software for the first time, I made this simple calendar creator (no mail address required) that lets a person create a calendar based on his needs and availability and export it to his calendar app, pdf or receive a daily newsletter with his daily tasks (and more).
After wrestling with different models (f.e. with huggingface) and encountering different problems, I decided to use ChatGPT’s models, tune them a little and see how the result works out. ChatGPT’s low price enables me to give users the opportunity to create calendars for free and without a mail address required.
Demo video: https://youtu.be/UeZmqXcU5fY?feature=shared
The website/tool includes:
- Creating your calendar based on a title, date range and a description
- Editing and “polishing” the calendar until getting a desired result
- Exporting the calendar to your calendar app (can be Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, etc…)
- Exporting the calendar to PDF
- Signing up for a daily newsletter that contains a user’s daily tasks, reminders, special ai notes and more!
Some technical stuff:
- I am using firestore database and paypal payments
- I am always using the latest-fastest ChatGPT AI model (as generation-time is really important here)
- The website is created with Nuxt 3 (Nuxt for vuejs is what Next is for reactjs) and designed with tailwindcss

Author: akingkiwi
Description: Hey everyone! After 12 months of developing and refining an idea that I felt was missing in the email design space, I’m excited to share the Email Love Figma Plugin: https://emaillove.com/figma-plugin.
TL;DR - The Email Love Figma Plugin is a tool for designers and marketers to streamline their email design workflow directly in Figma. It offers a library of email components, best practices, and design inspiration from top brands, and it’s optimized to help you create polished, on-brand emails faster. No more jumping between Figma and other tools - Export responsive and accessible email code directly to your ESP.
A Quick Backstory
Email design has always been a bit of a beast, especially when it comes to consistency and quality. While creating emails for various clients, I realized how challenging it can be to keep everything looking cohesive and aligned with brand standards, not to mention the technical quirks of HTML email. This sparked the idea for a Figma plugin focused purely on email design—giving designers a space that feels tailored just for them, with the tools they already use to design emails. Our Figma Plugin could be a great fit if you already know and love Figma!
What’s Inside the Plugin:
After taking on feedback from our beta testers and tons of trial and error, here’s a peek at some of the features I’m most excited about:
50+ Pre-built Email Components: Easily drag and drop headers, footers, CTAs, product blocks, and more—all optimized for responsive email layouts. Customize our components to create your own Email Design System.
Email-Specific Design Best Practices: Embedded best practices to help with accessibility, dark mode compatibility, and responsive layouts for improved rendering across devices.
Inspiration & Trends Library: Access real-world email campaigns from leading brands across e-commerce, SaaS, DTC, and more from our Figma Community page.
Export-Ready Assets: Cut your email development time in half by not having to re-build your campaigns with HTML or inside of a drag-and-drop email builder.
Enterprise-level support & services: Supported by a team that’s spent 20+ years designing and coding emails. We can build your email design system and provide expert-level support to help you get started quickly.
What’s NextThe HN community has already been a source of great inspiration, and I’m eager to hear your feedback. My goal is to make the plugin as helpful as possible for email designers and marketers, so please feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, and any features you’d love to see in future updates.
And if you’d like a demo or to see more examples of what you can create with the plugin, I’m more than happy to showcase that!
As always, you can try the Email Love Figma Plugin for free, no sign-up required. Check it out here: https://emaillove.com/figma-plugin.
Looking forward to your feedback!

Author: bhavnicksm
Description: I built Chonkie because I was tired of rewriting chunking code for RAG applications. Existing libraries were either too bloated (80MB+) or too basic, with no middle ground.
Core features:
- 21MB default install vs 80-171MB alternatives
- 33x faster token chunking than popular alternatives
- Supports multiple chunking strategies: token, word, sentence, and semantic
- Works with all major tokenizers (transformers, tokenizers, tiktoken)
- Zero external dependencies for basic functionality
Technical optimizations:
- Uses tiktoken with multi-threading for faster tokenization
- Implements aggressive caching and precomputation
- Running mean pooling for efficient semantic chunking
- Modular dependency system (install only what you need)
Benchmarks and code: https://github.com/bhavnicksm/chonkie
Looking for feedback on the architecture and performance optimizations. What other chunking strategies would be useful for RAG applications?

Description: I made this a few months back as a fun little project and it has absolutely no utility whatsoever.
The server returns the current time in the request’s status code — i.e., as long as the time can be mapped to a valid HTTP status code (e.g., 4:04pm -> 404 Not found) the server returns that status code for the request.
Example: https://x.com/scottinallcaps/status/1827211120194486597
The httpclock.com domain detects timezone by IP and redirects to the respective subdomain such as pt.httpclock.com (but will fall back to UTC)
A browser will show a blank page for most of the day given the number of valid status codes, but you can check other timezone subdomains, e.g. curl -I <a href="https://cet.httpclock.com" rel="nofollow">https://cet.httpclock.com</a>
Note: “Invalid” times will return 999 with no content.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this very useless clock. I plan to post the code on GitHub soon since I may as well. Thanks!

Description: Hello HackerNews, I’m Kaamkiya, the author of this program. It’s a collection of minimal games made for terminals, like 2048, Hangman, and even two player games like pong. They’re all text-based, but they can actually be quite fun.
If you want to test it right now, you can do this:
go run github.com/Kaamkiya/gg@latest
I started this project out of boredom, honestly. I was bored, and when I’m bored I like to code or play video games. So I coded video games. I kept them really minimal though, because I’m not great at gamedev and thought it would be easier to contribute to text-based games than a huge project.
If you have game ideas, tips for improvement, or any feedback, I’m open to hearing it. I’m also open to PRs and issues on the GitHub.
Thanks :)

Description: Hello HN!
I got pretty overwhelmed with Notion, Trello, etc. (Even though they are great tools!) as an indie dev, so I built an app that is simpler to use and perfectly suited for an indie like me :) You can basically divide your projects into multiple milestones (a milestone could be e.g. a new version), and the milestones can have multiple tasks that are either todo, in progress, or done. The progress for each milestone is calculated with those tasks, and you can also prioritize and categorize the tasks using tags (E.g. for me, #ph turns into “High Priority”, and #pm into “Medium Priority”, etc.). Each project also has a backlog for future tasks & ideas, and I’m also currently working on adding markdown-based project notes to describe more complex ideas.
I built this tool for myself (and I’m actively using it), and thought it would benefit others as well.
I’d love to hear feedback and your thoughts! :)

Description: Hey HN!
I created HEVCut, an iOS app that helps save iCloud storage by compressing videos into HEVC format with optimized metadata. It’s a straightforward solution for reducing video file sizes significantly (up to 50% or more), which speeds up load times and keeps quality high. I built it after struggling to manage my iCloud storage, especially with videos, and wanted something that didn’t rely on complex settings or third-party cloud services.
How It Works: HEVCut performs local re-encoding to HEVC (H.265) while optimizing metadata. By default, it reduces resolution to Full HD for even smaller sizes, but you can adjust settings to maintain the original resolution. This local processing reduces storage usage and improves video loading without sacrificing quality.
Core Features: • Instant Storage Savings: Reclaim space by shrinking video files directly on your iPhone. • One-Tap Compression: Easy to use—just select a video and compress. • Local, Private Processing: All compression happens on the device, not in the cloud. • Adjustable Resolution: Default to Full HD for better compression, with the option to keep the original resolution if needed.
I’d love any feedback from the HN community or ideas on other features to add. Happy to answer questions or discuss the technical challenges I faced. Thanks for checking it out! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hevcut/id6737538832

Description: I launched Mockmaster just a few days ago, and it’s already starting to take off! Mockmaster just made its first sale and gained 10 users in the last 12 hours, all through very early marketing efforts, which I hope is a good sign. It might not be much for some, but it’s a big deal for me, as it’s my very first product.
Why Mockmaster exists: Because tech interviews, especially at certain companies, have become more difficult than the bar exam. We’re in a tough market—although there is demand and there are workers, many of those workers can’t get their foot in the door because the “doorman” asks questions they’ll never use on the inside.
What Mockmaster does: Mockmaster simulates interviews using an AI model, designed to help candidates prepare for tough tech interviews. There are other good tools out there, but Mockmaster does it for less than a tenth of the cost, thanks to a more streamlined approach. No fancy videos, no AI interviewer, just well-crafted interviews tweaked by talented people and solid feedback. Candidates can then practice until they get the job.
Mockmaster also has “as real as they get” Big Tech interviews for some of the biggest tech companies, such as Google, Meta, X, and Apple.
Vision: I’d love to ultimately help improve the tech interview process as a whole, and seeing this early traction gives me hope. I’d still consider Mockmaster an MVP with many features I’d like to improve, so I’d love for anyone to try it out and let me know if the areas for improvement align with what I believe needs work.
Any feedback, however harsh, is welcome.
Mockmaster has no free tier, so if you want to try it out, please email me at [email protected], and I’ll give you free access to the app.
Thanks for reading, and for your help!
