1. Show HN: HackBud – I no longer struggle to find teammates for Hackathons
URL: #
Author: Utkarshn10
Description: Hey there,
Last year, I participated in a hackathon and wanted to connect with people to build a team. I went to Discord and other channels to find people who would be interested in participating, but it took a lot of time to find people and reach out to them and decided to participate alone.
Then came the idea of solving my problem by building a platform where I could find people with the same mentality who want to build cool stuff in hackathons, without much effort. Hence, HackBud was born.
I am launching it on Product Hunt today: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/hackbud

6. Show HN: One-dot-per-vote comparison map of US Election Results
URL: https://votermap.github.io
Author: NameError
Description: Source code and more info here: https://github.com/votermap/votermap.github.io/tree/main
The core idea is to take precinct-level election results and visualize them with one dot per vote, but distribute those dots based on block-level population density. For both maps, this uses 2020 Census block non-incarcerated voting-age population totals to place the dots (most of the work to generate these block-level vote and population numbers was done by the redistrictingdatahub.org, with the exception of DC, CA, and PA).
The map uses MapLibre for the front end and a vector-tile service called Tippecanoe to generate the tiles.
I was inspired by maps like this one: https://x.com/kennethfield/status/1363974716826869760 (the author has an excellent book of 101 visualizations of US Election data), but wanted to make a version that uses precinct-level data and offers the side-by-side comparison of 2016 vs 2020.
I hope it's okay to post this here despite the political nature - it was an interesting project from a tech/cartography standpoint and it's cool to see the political geography of the US.

8. Show HN: Launching GetProduct.dev
Author: getproduct_dev
Description: I would be happy to get any feedback!
Here is why I built it and what it is:
I found it hard to monetize another project of mine where users entered wishes they had. Google ads generated almost no revenue. Therefore I tried Affiliate Marketing using various Affiliate Programs where the users wish is entered as query. Especially with amazon this worked pretty well even though I hit a lot of problems to get it working. My revenue from that is at least 10x the revenue I had from google ads.
Thats why I build getProduct.dev and I would be really happy if you would try it our and give me some feedback. It is a nicely documented api to get dynamic affiliate links. I do not get a cut of the revenue because it uses your own Amazon account.
You get 100 free requests once you create an account and if you need more for testing you can contact me.
Currently it only supports amazon affiliate but I plan on integrating more like Aliexpress and also I am thinking about more usecases that could potentially leverage AI to generate even better responses.
Thanks for reading and any feedback!

14. Show HN: I built open-source Apple Intelligence-like Writing Tools for Windows
URL: https://github.com/theJayTea/WritingTools/releases/tag/v3
Author: TechExpert2910
Description: I posted this a while back, but there's been a major update — it now supports local LLMs, multiple cloud LLMs, code editing, chat mode, themes, dark mode, and more!
As a high school student, I love LLMs and the execution of Apple's Appel Intelligence Writing Tools, but was disappointed that nothing like that existed for Windows. So, I created Writing Tools, a better than Apple Intelligence open-source alternative that works system-wide on Windows! It can use the free Gemini API, or a multitude of local LLMs via Ollama, llama.cpp, KoboldCPP, TabbyAPI, vLLM, etc. It's much better than the tiny 2B parameter Apple Intelligence model! It works in any application with a customizable hotkey - Proofreads, rewrites, summarizes, and more - Free and privacy-focused (your API key stays local, no logging, no tracking, local model options, etc.)
It's built with Python and PySide6, and I've made it easy to install with a pre-compiled exe. For the technically inclined, the well-documented source is available to run or modify.
I'd love feedback from the HN community on both the concept and the implementation. Are there features you'd like to see? Any thoughts on making it more robust or user-friendly?
GitHub: https://github.com/theJayTea/WritingTools
P.S. This is my first major Windows coding project, so I'm especially keen on advice for best practices and potential improvements! Thanks so much for your time :)

15. Show HN: Minimal image regression template for PyTorch
URL: https://github.com/hugohadfield/pytorch_image_regession
Author: hugohadfield
Description: Last year I got interested in image regression but struggled to find any easy tutorials or templates for getting set up with image regression in pytorch. Seems like all the tutorials were about image classification.. I decided to make a very minimal pytorch image regression example for a task that I thought would be easy to solve to make it easier for people to clone and then modify with their own datasets. Its pretty basic and has minimal dependencies. Let me know if you spot any bugs or simple improvements :)

23. Show HN: I built a browser extension to collect design inspirations
URL: https://www.designshots.co/
Author: Rayid
Description: Hi, I’m Rayid, a 17y/o indie hacker passionate about building stuff. As a web developer, I’ve always struggled with designing websites from scratch. Let me be honest—I’m not good at it. Like many others, I turn to the web for inspiration.
But searching through countless websites to find the perfect design inspiration quickly became a hassle. Sure, I could bookmark sites or take screenshots, but organizing them? Total chaos. I ended up with a chaotic mess of images and links that were impossible to navigate when I needed them most.
That’s when I thought—there has to be a better way. So I built Designshots, a simple browser extension that takes full-page screenshots of websites and stores them in a clean, organized platform.
With Designshots, designers and developers can easily capture, save, and organize design inspiration in one place, making the creative process smoother and more efficient. Whether you're designing a new site or simply gathering ideas, this tool will help you create stunning, eye-catching websites with ease.

If you’re also into templates for things like invoices or letterheads, there are a many other resources on the site that might come in handy.

It's free to use and includes Domain Rating (DR) and traffic info so you can pick the right spot to get the most eyes on your launch.

32. Show HN: I built an AI that creates React landing pages
Author: bockerwee
Description: Hey, I used to spend hours creating landing pages for my side projects & SaaS. However it's such an important part of the process.
