2. Show HN: Roundtable – Survey fraud and bot detection API
URL: #
Author: timshell
Description: Hi HN, we're Mayank and Matt of Roundtable (https://www.roundtable.ai). We launched our Survey Simulator as part of YC S23 (see Launch HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36865625), and ultimately decided to pivot because we couldn't convince users to trust our results and our value proposition wasn't clear.
We conducted tons of user discovery interviews, and a lot of big players talked about the pain of manual QC and bot detection. We launched a survey fraud and bot detection API (Alias; docs.roundtable.ai) that determines whether a bot is answering your survey or not. Our API embeds Javascript into survey programs (Forsta, Qualtrics, jsPsych, etc.) to track user behavior and make a judgment on whether the data is from a high-quality participant.
You can use our demo, and try to break it, here: https://www.roundtable.ai/hn-demo. See if you can generate LLM-based text without any flags going off! Feedback welcome!

3. Show HN: We built a multimodal AI interviewer for mock system design interviews
URL: https://app.techinterviewer.ai?source=hn
Author: jmtame
Description: Hey HN! We’re Jared, Shreyas, and Varun the creators of TechInterviewer. We’re building a product for software engineers to go through an entirely simulated systems design interview. Our AI interviewer, Steve, gives you a prompt and you talk out loud and draw on a whiteboard while Steve guides you through the interview and gives real-time feedback. Check out our demo:
https://app.techinterviewer.ai
Every software engineer today has to prepare for systems design interviews and have two awful options: pay hundreds of dollars for a single session with a FAANG engineer or follow silently alongside a YouTube playlist. Because there is no instant feedback while practicing, engineers often learn about their most important knowledge gaps during the course of the interview loop.
Jared and Shreyas are both senior engineers who have spent 1000s of hours preparing for and administering systems design interviews. Shreyas was an early engineer at Deepgram and spent many years tracking developments in the TTS (text to speech) space. He realized that voice interviews had potential to change the candidate experience when he starting using chatGPT to prepare for interviewing founding engineer candidates at his startup.
We’re hoping that having easy access to interview feedback will level the playing field of software engineers at different skill levels. We’re really excited to share this with you all and we’d love any thoughts, feedback, and comments

4. Show HN: Job Log – Job Application Tracker
URL: https://joblog-phi.vercel.app/
Author: dyz
Description: Happy Friday HN!
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I, along with many others in recent times, have been affected by the layoffs impacting the tech industry, and I'm currently on the software engineering job hunt. I had been tracking my job applications via Excel to help facilitate my WA state unemployment claims, but am (personally) anti-Excel / against using spreadsheets. I also wanted to explore the latest and greatest NextJS / Vercel features, so thought this would be a great time to learn something new! Job Log was never really meant to see the light of day for other users, but I thought "why not?" if it might help others in their job search hunt.
Note: this was built in about a week, so will definitely be a little rough around the edges. Please be patient as I continue to build on this!
You can learn more here: https://joblog-phi.vercel.app/about
Feel free to leave any feedback here in this thread or email me at joblogservice@gmail.com! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

7. Show HN: AI-Powered Browser Tab Manager – TabMate
Author: justfinish
Description: Hello HN,
My friend and I have spent the last month building an AI-powered browser tab manager. It's a Chrome extension that automatically categorizes all tabs into topics.
It also supports some basic organization features like custom groups and locked groups (groups that AI doesn't touch). We would like to experiment with a few other things like nested folders, sync with browser tab grouping, user controlled prompt & categories soon!
At the moment we just started looking for early adopters to help us test it + provide suggestions and feedback! Please consider giving it a try if this sounds interesting to you! (Or tell us here why it's a terrible idea and how it could be more useful! ;D)
Thank you!

9. Show HN: Flat – a minimalist teamwork app that protects focus (live demo)
URL: #
Author: Aalk4308
Description: Hi HN! We're Seth, Andrew, & Marcin.
After a decade of wanting a simple, lightweight teamwork tool and not finding one, we decided to build one ourselves. You can try out what we're building in a sandbox demo here: https://try.flat.app.
We’re calling it Flat, and we have two main goals:
1. Everyone can figure it out in just a few minutes, from the intern to the zero-patience CEO.
2. It doesn’t create extra work for anybody. Everything written in Flat would have been written somewhere anyway; Flat just provides an obvious, consistent place to put it.
If you check out the demo, please let us know how you think we’re doing on these goals and where we could do better. (Mobile users, there’s a video for you since Flat is desktop-only at the moment.)
Also: we think it's crazy that work communication has become so dominated by synchronous chat e.g. Slack and Teams over the past decade. It's too easy for balls to get dropped, it’s hard to get real work done, and it's hard to find things. Chat is great for some things, but we don’t think it should be the center of our work lives or the system of record. So Flat includes async discussion threads that are as quick and easy as chat but without the downsides.
You can read more about why we're building Flat at https://flat.app/why.
HN FAQ
-----------
How baked is this? We’re still in beta, but it’s pretty darn baked.
What’s your business model? No-nonsense SaaS. We’re currently in beta and free for all teams, but you can find our future pricing on our homepage.
Does this have a proper integration with GitHub? Yes it does, because we're using Flat to build Flat!
Is this an “alternative to Jira”? Ha, no. Though… some teams have in fact migrated to Flat from Jira. So, maybe?
Is this an “opinionated” tool? Yes and no. Flat eschews complex features in favor of a small set of simple primitives (workspaces, topics, tasks, and threads). But Flat has no opinion about how you should work.
Is there a dark mode? You bet. It's in the demo, try it!
What's your stack? React, TS, PostgreSQL & Replicache (all data’s local, and Flat works offline)
Do you have a mobile app? Not yet, but we will. We've been focused on making the desktop experience great first.
Hang on, is this an Electron app? You got us! Feel free to use Flat in-browser if that offends you.

13. Show HN: RunComfy – ComfyUI cloud and guaranteed working AI video workflows
URL: https://www.runcomfy.com/
Author: henlee
Description: Hi HN! We just launched the RunComfy, a website let you run ComfyUI in the cloud.
We see two problems now facing by the ComfyUI community,
- most of the shared workflows will not run correctly on your own local box,
- two most of us don't have a good enough GPU for video generation (I spent about 3 hours on my local box to restyle a short 10 seconds clip).
Our solution is,
- AI video/image generation workflows listed in the RunComfy(https://www.runcomfy.com/explore) are guaranteed to run in the cloud env (We spent most our time on this)
- Very powerful RTX GPUs are running in the backend.
Try it out here, https://www.runcomfy.com/. Have fun, and lmk if you have any feedback! ;)

19. Show HN: I created an AI commercial about GitHub (just for fun)
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA3ecAvGk9g
Author: igorkotua
Description: In childhood I dreamt about becoming a film director. But then I became a developer :)
In the last months I've seen a lot of AI films on Twitter. So I decided that given my knowledge about AI tools I should try to shoot a film.
The only question was, that this film should be about?
I am working at an open-source startup (crowd.dev) and recently I also made a side-project that generates AI pictures in a GitHub logo style (octoart.vercel.app).
GitHub even wrote about me in the blog (https://github.blog/2023-12-19-release-radar-dec-2023/).
So I thought, why not to shoot a commercial about GitHub? It is a relatively short format and there is a chance GitHub will write about me (again).
So yes, I went ahead and created this AI commercial using MidJourney, Runwayml, Pika and ElevenLabs.
Maybe it's stupid and silly, but to be honest I don't care - I just wanted to experiment.
Would love to hear your thoughts about the film!
Thanks :)

23. Show HN: Claude and ChatGPT can't do basic operations?
URL: #
Author: laurex
Description: Fascinating experience in trying to get Claude and ChatGPT to do basic data analysis. I pasted a list of 290 locations into each tool and asked each one to tell me the percentage each location represented in the data set as well as a count for each location.
Both of them were wildly wrong for different reasons.
Claude completely miscounted the number of instances for one location. https://imgur.com/a/ShaORko
And then it kind of tried to gaslight me about it. https://imgur.com/a/ehbQ9hu
(EDIT) ChatGPT incorrectly counted instances and then reported that one location it said had 189 instances (actually 91) represented 99.47% of the dataset. Other locations had also incorrect percentages and the total percentage was far over 100%. This seems to be because despite identifying the instances individually, it was calculating using a total of 190 instances. https://imgur.com/a/yNcAHZB
Presumably this has something to do with the data format, but it was simply a copy-paste from a single column in a Google Sheet, which strikes me as a pretty standard format for data. I also pasted the same data into a different Google Sheet and it behaved normally.

24. Show HN: Jeki – Code-sharing widget with dynamic parts
URL: https://jeki.io/
Author: dtymoshuk
Description: Hi HN, I’m Danyil, founder of Jeki – an open-source code-sharing widget with dynamic parts for editing predefined sections into the widget directly instead of the copy-and-paste routine into a separate editor.
You can integrate the Jeki widget into your Confluence pages as a macro or add it to your HTML ones as a web component. Additionally, our CLI tool is a valuable asset for anyone dealing with Bash commands.
For a hands-on experience, visit https://jeki.io to watch a demo and explore the widget's capabilities.
— — —
Developers worldwide are increasingly involved in documenting inner source software, runbooks, and deployment procedures, yet the process often lacks convenience, particularly when adapting it to specific needs. Take, for instance, Bash commands: the repetitive cycle of copying, pasting, modifying, and executing in a console is far from efficient.
Our solution simplifies this challenge, empowering developers to streamline their workflow, enhance efficiency, and eliminate errors associated with manual copy-pasting. This tool is designed to change how developers work, providing a seamless experience.
— — —
The Jeki widget macro designed for Confluence will soon be accessible on the Atlassian marketplace by the end of this month. We're gearing up to make our repositories publicly accessible later this month.
— — —
We want to go forward and provide organizations with premium development tools that leverage advanced functionalities based on the core features of our widget.
We're eager for you to experience Jeki and provide us with your valuable feedback! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.

25. Show HN: The LeadSavvy Pro Story. For Facebook Marketers
Author: Tim_Builds
Description: Hello, I'm Tim, solo founder of LeadSavvy Pro. I wanted to share a bit of my journey as a solo entrepreneur, the challenges faced, and the creation of LeadSavvy Pro – a tool born out of a simple idea to make accessing Facebook Leads easier for everyone.
I'm hoping to get some feedback and ideas on how best to market LeadSavvy Pro.
LeadSavvy Pro is the most cost effective and simply way to sync and access your Facebook Leads. https://leadsavvy.pro
My journey started with a realization: businesses needed a straightforward solution for accessing leads. Facebook Leads access is quite difficult on a mobile device and the most robust way to access your leads is by downloading csv files (again a challenge on mobile devices). With that in mind, I set out on a solo venture to develop a tool that simplifies lead management, reducing manual effort, and making life a bit easier for businesses.
I started grinding 6 months ago. The road wasn't easy, especially with a day job. Late nights and overcoming technical challenges were part of the process. Yet, each hurdle became a learning opportunity, helping LeadSavvy Pro evolve from a concept to a robust tool.
LeadSavvy Pro isn't just about features; it's about being user-friendly. I aimed to create an interface that even those without technical know-how could navigate effortlessly. The goal was to empower users without overwhelming them.
LeadSavvy Pro emerged as a simple solution to send Facebook leads directly to Google Sheets. No complicated integrations or premium zaps – just a straightforward, cost-effective tool designed to make lead management hassle-free.
Going beyond lead transfer, LeadSavvy Pro includes a built-in lead viewer and the beginnings of CRM functionality. Now, businesses can nurture leads within the platform, creating a central hub for efficient customer relationship management.
This solo entrepreneur journey has been about turning an idea into a tool that simplifies a small part of business life. LeadSavvy Pro isn't a grand revolution; it's a personal project aimed at making lead management accessible. Given time, I would like to make LeadSavvy Pro the go to tool for marketing agencies and their clients alike.
If you have any feedback or some interesting ideas on how best to market and get the word out, I would love to hear them.
Cheers, Tim
